Candor UI Commercial Licence

Version 1.0, effective 5 November 2026. Between Methodic LLC ("we") and the person or company that bought a licence ("you"). You buy through Polar, our reseller, which handles payment, tax and refunds; this licence covers what you may do with Candor UI.

1. What you get

When you buy a Pro, Premium or Team licence, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual licence to use the Candor UI items your tier includes:

  • Pro: every item in the Candor UI registry except the full-stack blocks and templates.
  • Premium: Pro, plus the full-stack blocks and templates.
  • Team: Premium, for up to ten people in the same company.

Pro and Premium licences are for one person. Team licences are for up to ten people in one company. Contractors working on your projects count as people. If a company buys, it names the people the licence covers and may move a seat to someone else when a person leaves; email info@themethodic.com when the people change.

We keep the copyright in the items. You own your end products. The Candor UI name and logo aren't licensed to you.

2. What you may do

  • Use the items in unlimited projects, personal or commercial, for yourself or for clients, including software you sell or run as a service.
  • Change the code as much as you like.
  • Ship the items as part of an end product: an application or website whose value is more than the Candor items themselves.
  • Hand a client the source of the end product you built for them, items included. They may keep changing that product, but may not take the items out of it for other uses; for that they need their own licence.
  • Use AI coding assistants with the items while you build your products.
  • Use the items in an open-source project only if their source stays out of its public repository, for example installed at build time with your licence key. Otherwise use the free items there.

3. What you may not do

  • Publish the source of paid items where people your licence doesn't cover can read it: a public repository, a gist, a package or a website.
  • Resell, share or sublicense the items, changed or not, on their own or in anything that lets others build interfaces with them: a UI kit, component library, template, theme, starter, design system or code generator.
  • Give your licence key to people your licence doesn't cover, or make the items available to them through a shared registry or repository.
  • Use the items to train or fine-tune an AI model, or to build a dataset, that generates interface components for others.

4. Updates and support

Your licence includes every version of Candor UI we publish, major versions included, for as long as we publish them. Separate products we may make are not included.

  • Pro: no email support; the docs and examples are at candor.themethodic.com.
  • Premium: email support at info@themethodic.com, answered on a best-effort basis.
  • Team: priority email support at info@themethodic.com: a first reply within 2 business days (Monday to Friday, US public holidays excepted).

Support covers Candor UI's own code, not your application, and a reply is not a promise of a fix.

If we stop publishing Candor UI, your licence to the items you've installed continues, and we'll give at least 60 days' notice on candor.themethodic.com first.

5. Refunds and ending

You can ask for a full refund within 30 days of buying, through Polar or at info@themethodic.com. A refund or chargeback ends this licence: within 30 days, remove the paid items from your projects, including ones you've already shipped.

We can end this licence if you break section 3. The same 30 days to remove the items then apply, but end products you had already handed over to clients stay licensed to them.

6. No warranty, limited liability

THE ITEMS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS". TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

You're responsible for what your application, and any AI agents it runs, do. Candor UI's components help people see and review what agents do, but they don't make those actions safe or correct.

TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO WHAT YOU PAID FOR THE LICENCE, AND WE'RE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS OR DATA.

Nothing in this licence limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be limited by agreement.

7. Free-tier and third-party code

Free-tier items are MIT-licensed (LICENSE-MIT) and stay MIT even in an application that also uses paid items. Paid items stay under this licence even inside an MIT-licensed project. Code we adapted from open-source projects, such as the shadcn/ui primitives, stays under its own licence (THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md).

8. Changes to this licence

We may publish new versions of this licence. A new version applies to purchases made after it's published; your purchase stays under the version you bought under.

9. Law and the rest

This licence is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States. Disputes go to the state or federal courts serving Loudoun County, Virginia, unless the consumer law that applies to you gives you the right to bring them elsewhere.

If part of this licence can't be enforced, the rest still applies. This licence, with Polar's terms of sale, is the whole agreement about Candor UI. You may transfer it only together with the sale of the business that uses it. Sections 3, 5, 6 and 9 continue after the licence ends.
